Isn’t it wonderful to belong to such a wonderful family as Grace Church! I don’t know about you but I look forward to the opportunity on Sunday morning to catch up the Thanksgivings and Praise God moments of my friends. The perfect place to do that is the Graceway Café in Goddard Hall each Sunday, except the first, between the 8 and 10:30 services. There is no charge, although your love offering is cheerfully accepted. Menu varies but there is always coffee, juice, and pastries of some type. Volunteers are always welcome to provide and set out food items. Please contact Ruth Stewart for more information.
Each first Sunday of the month, we welcome everyone to the Parish Breakfast, also in Goddard Hall between the 8 and 10:30 services. We have some great cooks at Grace and they love to serve you.
Outreach is sponsoring a fund raiser to help the Women's Resource Center. Baby bottles were distributed on Sunday, May 11. These are to be filled with donations and returned to Grace Church on Father's Day, June 15.
On Friday, May 16th, from 6 to 8 p.m., Bari Bennett-McDaniel, a member of Grace Episcopal Church, will be playing piano at Sorrento’s Restaurant, 4050 S. Ridgewood Avenue, Port Orange. Please come out, listen to the music, and let’s have some fun!
LAY EUCHARIST VISITORS ARE HERE TO SERVE - We are pleased to have a new group of parishioners who have been trained and licensed to take communion to those who are homebound, in nursing homes, or in hospitals. If you are homebound or recuperating from hospital and cannot get to church, please call Audrey Rajter so that we can set you up for visitation. Please don’t assume we know about you. If you are going into the hospital, please let the church office know so that you can receive clergy and LEV visits.
MEDICATIONS FOR GUYANA - Carol & Alan are heading back to Guyana the week of June 14th. We are asking for over the counter medications such as Tylenol (acetaminophen) for infants, children, and adults. They do not have to be a name brand. If you could bring them to church by Sunday, May 17th in time for packing, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your kind gift to the people of Guyana.
The Nametag Ministry is in need of some new people to greet newcomers and help folks find their nametags. This is an exciting ministry and offers one of the best opportunities to become acquainted with everyone in the service you regularly attend. Please help by calling me with your commitment. It only requires one Sunday a month and you won't miss any of the service that day. God's Peace - Contact Ron Jones.
The ECW is putting together a Grace Church Cook Book and needs lots and lots of recipes. There is even a section planned just for the wee ones. So kids if you have a favorite dish you help make your mom or dad make, please have them send it to us. We hope to offer the book for sale at the Christmas Bazaar. There is a box in the Narthex for the collection. Please contact Elinor Scheer if you have any questions.
KICK OFF THE SUMMER--
GRACE PICNIC JUNE 8TH
One service at 9 a.m. followed by a Grace family picnic.
We're going to have such fun!! This is short notice but with your help we can make it happen. You can help by signing up to bring one of the following: Paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils, condiments, sodas, hamburger patties, hot dogs, salads, deserts.
One person does not need to supply enough for the picnic, but if 3 or 4 can share an area that would be so helpful. We'll have sign up sheets at church this Sunday and through May.
Parish Cruise 2008 is being planned for November 14 - 17, 2008. We will be sailing with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and have ports of call in Nassau and Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Please see the poster in the Narthex for more details. |
